IN A NUTSHELL
A fine art print, made to order, of my original design, Crow's Foot With Beach Rocks And Kitchen Twine, 8x10".
Front and center, a graspy wee crow claw clutches a beach rock and a bit of string. The claw and stones are a nod to the fable in which a clever crow fills a half-empty glass of water with stones so it can reach a drink. This is a story of cunning and resourcefulness.
I associate birds and crows with the Weaver archetype because of their top-notch nest-construction capabilities. (True story: crows in parts of Japan have learned to steal wire coat hangers from peoples' apartments to build nests that look like modern art sculptures.) Spiders might be the more obvious choice for weaving, but I don't like them anywhere near as much as I like crows, who are handsome and good and have a completely normal amount of legs.
Loose lemniscate and spiral bits of string inspired by Celtic geometric designs tie this piece in with the Weaving Tools print, and the symbolism of continuity, fate, and immortality.
The stones on the right are studies of beach rocks and a chunk of Massachusetts slate, peppered with tiny pyrite cubes.
