A fine art print, made to order, of my original illustration, Embroidery, 8x10."

This piece was a spot illustration for my blog post, All Art Is Quite Useful. "Architecture and symbol are cornerstones of humanity. Art and expression form the warp threads of our social fabric."

Weaving, thread, needlecraft, and fiber arts are recurring symbols in my work. I see them as symbols of crafting culture and connecting past to present and present to future. The needle pierces fabric like art and inquiry pierce the veil between this and other worlds. On the surface, we see a rich, designed tapestry emerge, and on the other side, a chaotic tangle of connecting threads. The weaver's shuttle passes through warp threads like memes and teachings pass between generations, and patterns emerge over time. Threads build and bind one thing to the next.
